Fall On The River

Fall On The River                    12" x 16"             oil on panel

I worked on a light gray gessoed surface today which I haven't done for quite a while. I liked the way the warm colors came forward right away and the darks were more immediate to achieve. I only have a hint of fall color in this one, but I'm planning for more along that line soon.

Gros bisous ♡

There is something so compelling about your fishing paintings. They make me want to take up fishing!
Love the way the size of the fisherman indicates the scale of his surroundings. brilliant!

I just love your fly fishing paintings and this one is eye catching . Brings me right back to a day standing in the river for the first time, such exhilaration.

I am a fly fisherman and I'm here to tell you that Mary's fly fishing paintings truly capture the very essence of the sport. Fall on the River might be your best yet, Mary. I'm torn between wanting to run to the river to fish or running to my studio to paint.
Thanks,
Buddy G

Wonderful composition, Mary, and I like how the cast fish line creates a subtle bridge between the two sides of the river. Your color selection is so appealing - wish I had that talent! My dad and uncle were avid fishermen. This brings me back to the times I went with them.

Mary this is just lovely. My favorite part is the line up in the air. Many times I worried over a back cast. The painting has grace and beauty. Glad to see you "back in the water" so to speak.
