Re-painting and Adjustments- Basque Colors

Basque Colors       oil on linen panel    10" x 8"
When I posted yesterday, I knew in the back of my mind that my painting wasn't really finished the way I wanted. The face had too much contrast in edges and values and the result was harsh. Today I worked on this improved version and am much happier with it.

Basque Color

Basque Color             10" x 8"       oil on linen
The Oinkari Basque Dancers performed this weekend as part of the annual St. Ignacio Festival here in Boise. I took a lot of photos and was able to grab some time today to paint this flag bearer after a performance. It was a colorful, fun festival weekend with friends and relatives and I really enjoyed painting this one.

Another Breezy Beach Day

Another Breezy Beach Day          oil on linen         7" x 10"
Today I hid my 'to do' list and did not allow anything to get in the way of breaking out the paints! Yay! I didn't allow unpacking, cleaning, shopping, home decor or any of the other myriad of 'necessities' to creep in. Ok, I did do a load of laundry and cleaned brushes, but a nice little chunk of time went to thinking about the many blue hues of the beaches of Hawaii. This is from a past trip and it was  lovely way to take an afternoon vacation.

Imagination Land

Imagination Land                         oil                         6" x 6"
Who knows why a particular image comes to mind? I've been looking for the photo this is based on for awhile and just couldn't come up with it for love nor money. So, I resorted to working from my imagination on this one and enjoyed the change. The salmon pink sky and reflection in the water in from a late summer, memory here in Eagle.

Canyon Shapes

Canyon Shapes            11" x 14"           oil on linen panel
This is Box Canyon again from our trip to Fort Smith, Montana and the Big Hole River. The drama of the big shapes are always intriguing and they can change dramatically at every turn.
