A Good Year

A Good Year      8" x 6"          oil on linen panel
This is another painting where I worked out of a dark mass. As with my last post, I played with color that really popped against the cooler darks but used a little softer contrast in this one. Regardless of method, I just love painting grapes...these are a pic from a wine tour a couple years ago.

What a gorgeous painting Mary. I like it not being explicit with every grape done perfectly - the way you only suggested them in places is very powerful.
This is full of light and emotion.

The colors, the contrast, everything seems to be just right. The work says every thing without giving away too many details. Fabulous.

I especially love the soft edges. This is a very strong painting, a masterpiece.
