Good News - reading, figure, letters

Good News                    oil on linen                      8"x 8"
When was the last time you got a letter instead of an email? My friend Judy writes great letters and I know she still has a pen pal with whom she has corresponded for years. It's a nice and personal touch, and I applaud those of you who still write letters. Something I would hate to see go away.

I really like all the light coming through the vines. It makes for some great shadows, too. Very nice!!

So many changes now! I haven't received a letter in a long time. Again, how many people read books when they have kindles!! I LOVE the looseness of this painting, Mary..so painterly and love the shadow work.

Correspondence has become a romantic notion in this 'fast' age we live in. I was corresponding with 3-4 people, from the age of 13 to 25. I loved it, still do, but things have changed!
Your painting reminded me the sweetness of anticipation of the letter and that lovely feeling when I was about to open the envelope. Beautiful-as always-painting Mary
Warm regards.
