Cup Stack- Daily Paintworks Challenge

Cup Stack  6 x 6  oil
I decided on a complete change of pace and took up the challenge at the Daily Paintworks website. The idea is to simplify the painting down to it's essentials, by mixing paint and putting down only one stroke, then going back to mix and place just one more single stroke again. An interesting process...Click here for price and purchasing

Cream Cheese Please

Cream Cheese Please   6"x6" oil  $100
Bagels in all their wonderful chewy density are a hoot to make if you want to try something kind of different. Many years ago, we stayed with friends who showed us how and created great memories. The big surprise with making bagels is that after the dough is prepared (pretty standard for the most part) you shape them into balls, poke your thumb through to make the hole and drop them into salted boiling water! After the boiling, you put them in the oven. Fun and tasty both :)

Fresh Bread

Fresh Bread   6x6"  oil $100
My mother made wonderful bread, with a great crust. And, as any baker and fan of a good crusty bread knows, you store it with a cotton kitchen towel (not in a plastic bag) to keep it that way. She used to tie it up at the top, and create a wonderful bundle of loaves and rolls. I have to practice....the bread I baked here, isn't nearly as good!Click here for price and purchasing

Toast & Jam

Toast & Jam  oil  6"x 6"
When you have a sweet tooth, and there is nothing in the house to satisfy...there is (nearly) always jam.
So in continuing the theme of comfort food and home, I set up a lightly toasted slice and smeared on some red raspberry. I love painting reds, in any subject and the jam made this extra fun.

Toast  6"x6"   oil on linen
Thanks to all of you who were so kind in sending along your support and good wishes. It's been a rough couple of weeks. I'll just say that I'm starting the painting process again, with a piece of toast.  As elemental, comforting and basic to my family, as chicken soup might be for others. And after all.....who doesn't like toast? I think I'll go make a piece right now...
