A Second River View

A Second River View  7"x9"  oil
Last month I painted this view of the Coeur d'Alene River and I keep coming back to the reference of both photo and sketch. I wanted to work with a rectangle this time, still keeping the focus on the bend of the river in the distance and the large rock mass that stops the view on the left. I like this composition as well and might even try a third version.

I like the way this flows. One of the things I have been working on and trying to accomplish is the ability to make strokes so that it Looks like something instead of just a bunch of different colors on the canvas. I'll get there some day. I usually am painting them too realistically instead of being LOOSE!
