Retired

Retired   9"x 9"    oil         $200
I'm back from Christmas travels and for the last day of 2010, thought this wonderful cad. red  work truck, was a good way to end the year's posts. I'd love to have title suggestions from all you bright wordsmiths out there.  Please let me know your thoughts! I just can't seem to hit the right note with this one. Happy New Year to everyone out there (found it...see Jan 2 post) and be safe in your celebrations : )

Happy Holidays .....Santa's Baking !

Santa Baking       gouache         nfs
This will be my last post 'til just after the new year. So, I leave you with Santa, baking and in the mood for his own Holiday preparations. I think Mrs. Claus is at the spa, but Santa's elf/helper is ready and willing to be a taste tester. (Yes, every now and then, I get very whimsical and put together characters like
Santa here :)

Priority Mail

 Priority Mail     9"x9"    oil                $200
I know I've spent my share of time in line, waiting to send off paintings, gifts, and cards lately. This mail box was a cheery sign that someone was thinking of the mail person who delivers on this route. Three cheers for the USPO and all the folks trying to bring good things to our doors by Christmas!

Snowy Farm View

Snowy Farm View       9"x 9"        oil                      $200
A few of you did want answers to the process regarding my More Snowy Apples-demo, and I posted an explanation at the end of those comments. Thanks to all of you that responded both here and in email. This farm view was done from a photo taken when we were doing some visiting south of here last week. My good friend, Judy, took me sightseeing all around the area and these wonderful red branches stood out against the blue and white of the scene.

Snowy Apples

Snowy Apples      9"x 9"    oil on linen       $200
I've been seeing a few snowy branches that still have apples on them and they're looking like Mother Nature's Christmas ornaments to me. The apples have gone dark and have varying kinds of spotting from going soft. I enjoyed working with such a cool light and the patterns created by the branches as well.

Outdoor Bouquet Sketch

Outdoor Bouquet Sketch    6"x6"   oil/panel           $75
The compliments  of the various greens with the red peonies were what I was after in this little arrangement, last summer.. I really love this vase and had a lot of fun with that change in the glaze toward the bottom.

Sweet Pea Floral

Sweet Pea Floral   6"x6"   oil/panel
I keep going back and forth with florals and landscapes these days. This was a small bouquet from summer that had those kinds of flowers that fade fast...sweet peas and pansies. The round shape of the bowl seemed soft and good compliment to these delicate blossoms.

Desert Light

Desert Light     8"x 10"      oil          $250
Every now and then I do enjoy painting horses and cattle, not only for the life that they bring to a landscape, but for the big shapes and shadows that they cast. This is from the Big Horn River area in Montana.

Pink and White

Pink and White    8"x 8" oil    $150
Once again, I wanted to work with flower shapes and put together this painting from a bouquet of mixed blooms from summer. I didn't really identify the flowers here, other than maybe the rose on the left, but wanted to suggest the idea of the blossoms through the brushwork alone.

The Edge of Winter

The Edge of Winter    8"x8"   oil            $150
We have alot more now, but a couple of weeks ago, the first thin blankets of snow started falling. This barn and collection of outbuildings looked like they'd seen it all before, but were stolidly standing nonetheless...here we go again!
