Eagle Sunset

Eagle Sunset   12"x12"   oil     sold
Eagle is a small town in the Boise Valley area. There are some wonderful sunsets there over desert and farmland. Here I tried to catch one of them.

Geranium Sketch  14x11"  oil   sold

I 've been away for awhile and am scheduling posts of  older works for a bit longer than expected. These are paintings that I began posting nearly a year ago at the beginning of my blog. I hope you enjoy my "look back", it has been a great and fun learning experience!

Little Begonia

Little Begonia   10"x 8"   oil   sold
This little pot of flowers came together as a visual unit because of the light struck area on the right. Without that, it might have just been a pot of blurry begonias! I tried also to gray my shadow areas, so that the pure color really popped.

Strawberry Cup   9"x9"  oil
My husband brought this chocolate and strawberry cup home, thinking it would make a really fun little item to paint....and eat.......he was right!

Two Forks Please

Two Forks Please   10"x8"   oil   sold
This was a nice memory as well as a really super cheesecake! We were having dinner on a deck with an ocean view and our desert "lit up" with the light reflected from the sunset.

Moo

Moo    9"x9"   oil
I love this little cow pitcher that I got as a gift and could see it needed a chocolate companion.

Frosted

Frosted   9"x9"   oil
Once I painted that cup of coffee, I kept thinking of coffee and .....? Well, doughnuts of course! It was the design of frosting that I really wanted to paint here though....too fun.

Maple Heaven

Maple Heaven   10"x8"   oil
Anyone else for some maple heaven? I liked the light coming down, to kind of allow this doughnut to "shine"

Rose in the Shadows

Rose in the Shadows  9"x9"   oil
This little pot of Carpet Roses was peeking out from the shadows at a local nursery. Naturally, that red caught my eye and I tried for a very direct light/shadow approach on this one.

Mix 'n Match

Mix 'n Match   9"x9"    oil
On our trip last week, were invited to dinner at the house of friends. Gayle has wonderful color and art throughout their home and she kindly let me photograph this little set-up. She also cooked us a most wonderful dinner. Good food, friends and conversation.....very fun!

Painting Knife- artists, friends and supporters

Painting Knife    4x7"   oil
This is an old painting knife that I turn to over and over, even though the tip is no longer in the best shape. I just find myself reaching for it like a friend. It reminds me how important constant friends and supporters are and I would like to say a BIG thank you to all of you who post such great comments that help me move on to the next painting. I am out of town again and have limited computer time, but can't wait to get back and catch up with all the excellent work I see from so many of you . 'til later...

Abundance

Abundance   12x9    oil
These huge peony blooms were just past their prime, but the number of flowers and huge petals were falling in big bunches. They really were almost prettier at this stage than a few days before and I was trying to catch that look and feeling of lushness here.

Coneflower Group

Coneflower Group   8"x8"   oil          on reserve
Coneflowers are particularly decorative, like skirts or the umbrellas in fancy drinks maybe. There are some wonderful groups of these in the area and they seem to be enjoying all the sun. This group made a perfect painting opportunity.

Camp Coffee

Camp Coffee     9x9"   oil
One of my favorite things is morning coffee. And, while we haven't camped much for a long while, it still remains a good memory to wake up and hear it perking on a fire or a little camp stove. Nothing quite like it....
