Peonies & Cream

Peonies & Cream   9x9"    oil
Here I go again, with one of my favorite flowers. They're always so lush and seem to fill a square composition well, with their big full shapes. I have recently had questions about my methods and materials and it's probably close to time that I post another demo. Also, by request, I will soon put together a list of materials I use. If you have a question, just leave a comment or email and I'll try to answer them in the not too distant future. This is painted on alkyd primed linen that is mounted onto masonite panel.

  6. I love the loose brushstrokes and that there is just enough detail there to tell the story. Lovely.

  14. Mary, this is so beautiful. Peonies are my favorite flowers and I especially love the variety of pinks you used. I also really like what you did with the composition in this small space - like haveing the one that fell from the vase. So nice.

  15. My daughter and I are Coeur d'Alene oil painters and have seen your work locally and beyond. Love the freshness and vibrancy of this piece. Those whites and pinks are beautiful.
