Peonies & Cream

Peonies & Cream   9x9"    oil
Here I go again, with one of my favorite flowers. They're always so lush and seem to fill a square composition well, with their big full shapes. I have recently had questions about my methods and materials and it's probably close to time that I post another demo. Also, by request, I will soon put together a list of materials I use. If you have a question, just leave a comment or email and I'll try to answer them in the not too distant future. This is painted on alkyd primed linen that is mounted onto masonite panel.

Stunning, Mary. Very classical composition and you made the most of it. Love the softness of the container, the brushwork, everything!

Bravo!

I love the loose brushstrokes and that there is just enough detail there to tell the story. Lovely.

Its an amazing piece! The colors, the brushstroke, the softness and of course the subject. An instant winner.

Peonies are my favorite flower but I've always been too intimidated to paint them. You have painted them masterfully! Absolutely gorgeous!

Mary, this is so beautiful. Peonies are my favorite flowers and I especially love the variety of pinks you used. I also really like what you did with the composition in this small space - like haveing the one that fell from the vase. So nice.

My daughter and I are Coeur d'Alene oil painters and have seen your work locally and beyond. Love the freshness and vibrancy of this piece. Those whites and pinks are beautiful.
